In the pursuit of becoming Europe’s most sustainable hospitality furniture supplier by 2030, Satelliet is setting the bar high. This vision extends beyond using recycled materials; it involves collaborative innovation, adding value by bringing people and products together.
The SUM (Still Usable Materials) collection is at the forefront of this sustainability journey. According to Purchasing Director Robin Willemse, Satelliet excels in crafting furniture from high-quality, reusable materials like organic residual waste and PET felt. Wickerwork from recycled plastic and frames made of recycled aluminum, developed in collaboration with international partners, have paved the way for the latest addition, the innovative Code collection.
The inspiration for the Code collection emerged from Satelliet’s previous sustainable models. Crafted entirely from ‘post-consumer waste’ in Indonesia, the chair diverts consumer waste from landfills, embodying a circular economy ethos.
Code’s production involves two key components:
- Recycled Aluminum Frame: The frame is meticulously crafted using remelted and reshaped recycled aluminum, forming extruded tubes. Welded into the chair frame, it undergoes a suspension process, followed by a powder coat application. The chair is then placed in an oven to liquify and harden into a robust, aesthetically pleasing layer of color.
- Recycled Plastic Seat: The seat is created from recycled plastic, sorted by color and remelted to achieve a distinctive base color with signature splatters of speckles. A mold shapes the seat, contributing to Code’s unique design.
Code stands out as a stackable, UV-resistant, and visually striking collection, available in ocean blue, forest green, desert yellow, and galaxy black. Satelliet’s commitment to sustainability shines through in the innovative and eco-friendly Code series, contributing to a greener future for hospitality furniture.
